MEET THE 2018 AMBASSADORS

CHAMNAN PICH

Chamnan is a 36 year old health and fitness advocate. She believes heath is our greatest wealth. Chamnan began her running career in college 14 years ago after her father had a heart attack. Chamnan loves to travel and two years ago she moved back to Seattle after living in Washington DC for 4 years. This has been one of her best running years yet and is looking forward to running another Seattle Marathon in 2018.

dana larkin

At age 34, Dana decided that he wanted to run a marathon before he turned 35. He bought the books and started training. Then life got crazy: a career as a firefighter plus a growing family. The marathon plan was set aside. Fast forward ten years, Dana ran his first 5K with his oldest son. Two years and one knee surgery later, his first full marathon. Dana is a self-taught runner at the beginning of his journey.

“I hope to be an inspiration to older men (I’m 48) and first-time runners to show that regardless of age or ability everyone can have fun running and accomplish something that most people wouldn’t dream of doing.”

JOSALYN HEWITT

Josalyn is a passionate runner, successfully competing in races ranging from 5K to full marathons. Josalyn’s love for running began 20 years ago when she started to run on a treadmill at home. 14 years later, influenced by her sister who is also a runner, she ran her first half marathon in under 2 hours. She was hooked. The first full marathon Josalyn ran was the 2015 Seattle Marathon. She will always remember that morning; it was cold and frosty outside, and she wasn’t sure what to expect from herself or the course. She finished in little over 4 hours and never felt prouder of herself.

KATE AMSDEN

Kate spent the first 18 years of her life in the greater Seattle area. She learned to love the beauty of a city, and at the same time, developed a connection with the incredible environment that surrounded her. Kate attended Colorado State University and further cemented her love of the outdoors and being active. She earned her doctorate in physical therapy from Duke University, then moved back to Seattle. She has completed numerous half marathons and one full marathon.

“I will never forget the pure, absolute joy I felt approaching and running through the finish line. I want to share this feeling with people of all walks of life”

KELLEY JANSEN

Kelley initially fell in love with running as a three-year-old, running for fun. Growing up, running was an integral part of life, doing laps during her brother’s football practice, running in the neighborhood with friends or competing in cross country and track. In college, Kelley took a break from running but after moving to Alaska she was back at it. She is an active member of the Anchorage running community and travels regularly to compete in races around the country.

“The big picture of my story is not unique; in fact, it might sound very similar to others; stories who find solace and meaning in running.”
